Abstract: The key difficulty in regulation of the Yellow River is to control sediment. The new developments of sediment science, including sediment flow movement, capacity of sediment transportation, hyperconcentrated flow movement, river evolution and regulaion laws, measures of deposition abatement, mathematical model and physical model of engineering sediment, etc., are reviewed in this paper and main problems needed to be studied deeply are also presented.
