Abstract: Using the character analysis and the method of the historical analogy,the paper analyzes the profound inextricable tragic contradictions in Cao Zhi’s character.It discusses the inner causes and inevitability of his failure in political pursuit and his success in literary creation.It also puts forward some new ideas on the relationship between Cao Zhi and Cao Pi,their achievements and errors as well as the thinking content and main influences of Cao Zhi’s poems and literary works of great significance.
