Abstract: In the light of the problems existing in the concept of sediment diversion ratio,the author standardizes the definition of sediment diversion ratio and determines the connotation of the extension definition. According to a vast amount of measured data,the author summarizes the main factors affecting the sediment diversion ratio,builds the standard formula frame of sediment diversion ratio of culvert gates along Yellow River,thus lays an excellent foundation for setting up the formula of sediment diversion ratio.
