Abstract: The attitude of the peasants of late period of Qing Dynasty towards the Western culture presented two opposing extremes:for one thing,accepted and used,for another,excluded blindly and destroyed.It related to both values of the peasants themselves and the social environment and class condition of semi-feudal,semi-colonial of China at that time.Deep thought on this period hist ory will play a reference role to the construction of the peasants’ideology and culture under the situation of Chinese reform and open today.
