Abstract:
An algorithm is described for using fractal and chaos theory to analyze the nonlinear time series.The related fractal and chaos theory are introduced first,then use Visual Basic program language is designed to calculate the attractors’ correlation dimension and time-series Kolmogorov entropy.Then,with the example of the annual average runoff time series at Huayuankou section of the Yellow River,results obtained by the designed program are presented to test the effectiveness of the proposed method.This approach,therefore,turns out to be of high processing speed and maneuverability,and it can be one of analytical tools for chaos analysis of complex systems.
