Abstract: 《Criterion of Concrete Gravity Dam Design》（DL 5108-1999） makes great and important recensions in structure design: as the probability limit condition design principle, uses partial factor limit condition design expression instead of setting calculation principle and method in the old criterion. Analyzes the two condition calculation methods（Bear capacity limit condition method and normal limit condition method） and contrasts the new criterion with the old one. The analysis and the contrast offer the references for the application and spread of the new criterion and the curriculum reform.
