Abstract: Discrete element method is a numerical computation method for solving the non-continuum problem which developed in the 1970s.It analyzes the basic principles of discrete element method and its research progress at home and abroad as well, it also discusses its application in geotechnical engineering, structural engineering and dynamic analysis, etc.
