Abstract:
Although unconventional-structured retaining walls possess excellent self-stability characteristics, their mechanical responses are susceptible to the constraints of complex terrain boundary effects. In view of the special working conditions of the subgrade slope in the reconstruction and expansion project from Suizhong (Hebei-Liaoning border) to Panjin, a comparative analysis of various support measures was conducted. The unconventional retaining wall was chosen as the support measure. Firstly, the anti-sliding and anti-overturning checks of this retaining wall were carried out. Subsequently, two monitoring cross-sections were selected. Through on-site monitoring, the variation patterns of earth pressure and settlement of the unconventional retaining wall were analyzed to verify the time-varying stability mechanism of the unconventional retaining wall.
