    • China’s failures in the challenge of the West alienated intellectuals from the traditional culture. The overlap of roles during rejecting tradition and the tie function of La Jeunesse made it possible for them to support one another. The ingrained consciousness-thoughts revolution-made them come together. Beijing University’s reform provided a stronghold for new intellectuals to come together.
