Analysis on Water Consumption Evolution Characteristics and Marginal Benefit in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region

    • The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is a “resource-based” region with water shortage. The water recourse shortage has become a key factor restricting its social and economic development. Based on the data of water consumption and economic indicators of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from 2003-2017, the coefficient of variation and Theil coefficient are used to reveal the characteristics of water consumption evolution in this region. The marginal benefit of water resource utilization is calculated by using the Cobb-Douglas production function. The results show that the average annual marginal benefit of agriculture, industry and domestic water of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region were 8.17 ¥/m3, 97.88 ¥/m3 and 112.52 ¥/m3.The marginal benefits of agricultural water consumption of Tianjin and Hebei Province showed a decreasing trend, and the marginal benefits of other industries showed an increasing trend.
